RuPay is India's first-ever global card payment network, widely accepted at ATMs, POS (point of sale) terminals, and e-commerce platforms across the country. Designed with robust security features, it safeguards users against phishing threats. The name 'RuPay' is a blend of 'Rupee' and 'Payment,' highlighting its identity as India's homegrown payment solution. Serving as a strong alternative to international networks, RuPay reflects national pride in self-reliant financial infrastructure.

Associated with the RBI’s vision of promoting a 'less cash' economy, RuPay aims to drive digital payments by encouraging Indian banks and financial institutions to adopt advanced technology and expand electronic transaction services.
