A UK man recently received a £2 (Rs 215) voucher and an apology from Mars Wrigley after he discovered his Mars bar was missing its signature swirl, and the internet can’t stop laughing.
According to reports, while en route to a classic car show in Birmingham, Harry stopped at a service station in Oxfordshire and picked up the now-infamous chocolate bar. Instead of the usual iconic grooves, the Mars bar was eerily smooth, resembling, as one commenter later put it, "a chocolate bar going through a midlife crisis."
A little confused, Harry snapped a picture of the oddball candy and shared it on the 'Dull Men's Club Facebook page'. The photo instantly caused a stir, with thousands of people weighing in on the "Great Mars Mystery."
Curious about his un-swirlified Mars, Harry contacted Mars Wrigley UK to get some answers. Was this a new design? A rare factory blip? A secret smooth Mars launch?
Instead of a deep dive into the mystery, Harry got a polite apology and a £2 voucher.
"We're sorry to hear about your experience. We'll make sure your feedback is shared with our Quality Team. Please accept the enclosed £2 voucher that you can use towards a future purchase," their response read.
Enough for two new Mars bars!!
Harry’s reaction
Harry wasn’t in it for the money, though.
"The only reason I emailed them was because I was interested in what might have caused it to happen," he said.
"I think £2 is great. It’ll be two free Mars bars. Maybe they could have sent me more, but I’m not being ungrateful."
But social media? Oh, they were 'not' as chill.
One user joked "You only got £2 for all the free advertising you gave Mars?!"
"That’s the most ‘we didn’t read your complaint but here’s a fiver’ response I’ve ever seen,” another added.
One particularly salty commenter wrote "The most dull thing about this was Mars’s response. Thanks for respecting our group requirements, Mr. Corporation."
