Thripunithura: Following his extraordinary act of chivalry and compassion, local tea vendor M R Shaji is set to receive a high-profile visitor. Chief Minister V D Satheesan will personally visit the 52-year-old at his residence in Kizhakkekotta, Marattiparambil, to commend his selfless actions.

Shaji recently made headlines and won hearts across social media after a horrific road accident occurred at Statue Junction. A scooter rider, Sheeja George, was dragged under a private bus, leaving her severely injured and her clothing completely shredded below the waist. Without a moment's hesitation, Shaji took off his own ‘mundu’ to wrap around the wounded woman, preserving her dignity before she was rushed to the hospital.

The Chief Minister’s Office has formally contacted Shaji to confirm the upcoming visit during Satheesan's next trip to Kochi. The gesture highlights the widespread state-wide recognition Shaji has received, transforming the humble bicycle tea vendor into a symbol of community virtue. While the victim remains in a critical condition under specialist care, the state leadership’s visit underscores a collective salute to Shaji’s instant heroism.
