Most of us have a lip balm living at the bottom of a bag, linting up next to a half-melted chocolate and three receipts we swear we’ll need. Dior looked at that sad little tube and said, “Not on our watch.”

Meet the Dior Médaillon, a glitter-finish, hydrating lip balm that arrives in a palm-sized, oval, gold-tone case shaped like a locket, topped with a bow and stamped with the Dior logo.

It’s part of the holiday beauty line and officially launches on October 15, though the internet has clearly not waited for permission. Unboxing videos are already everywhere, and every single one has that “I’m holding a tiny treasure” energy.

There’s only one shade for now, a creamy crystal pink you dab on with your fingertips, because apparently we’re doing this the soft way. It also comes with a little sticker, so you can stick the case on the back of your phone, as a mirror-selfie accessory with a side of moisturised lips.

And that is the real tea! The Médaillon is not a one-hit wonder. Creative director Jonathan Anderson has also sent flap bags, bucket bags, belts and even loafers down the road wearing the same vintage-looking hardware for fall/winter 2026.

Here’s the fun part, this isn’t new at all. The motif dates back to 1947, borrowed from the oval-backed Louis XVI chairs Christian Dior had placed in his salon at 30 Avenue Montaigne. Decorator Victor Grandpierre picked those chairs for the earliest shows, and Monsieur Dior never looked back. The Médaillon went on to show up in décor, perfume bottles, branding and even bag prints, sitting comfortably beside the Cannage of the Lady Dior, the Toile de Jouy and the Oblique logo.

So Anderson has basically taken the back of a chair and turned it into a sold-out beauty accessory.

The Médaillon 24-Hour Hydrating Lip Balm is priced at $95 (approx ₹9,189) and is available internationally on dior.com. Will it make your lips softer? Probably. Will it make you feel like the main character in every mirror? Absolutely.
