Mumbai: Cybersecurity software firm Crowdstrike has identified the cause of the massive global Windows outage. The issue was related to "content deployment," which has since been reversed. Crowdstrike has provided a workaround for affected users. 

The company is expected to release an official statement soon. Microsoft continues to work on mitigating the impact of the outage. Meanwhile, airlines like SpiceJet and IndiGo have implemented manual check-in processes due to the disruptions.

Microsoft users worldwide, including banks and airlines, reported widespread outages on Friday, hours after the technology company said it was gradually fixing an issue affecting access to Microsoft 365 apps and services.

The cause, exact nature and scale of the outage was unclear. Microsoft appeared to suggest in its X posts that the situation was improving but escalating outages were still being reported around the world hours later.
The website DownDectector, which tracks user-reported internet outages, recorded growing outages in services at Visa, ADT security and Amazon, and airlines including American Airlines and Delta.

A global Microsoft Windows outage has caused widespread disruptions, leading to "Blue Screen of Death" errors that have affected operations at international airlines, banks, and media outlets. Bengaluru International Airport's flight operations have also been impacted. 

Crowdstrike acknowledged the issue, advising users to await a new Windows update before attempting fixes. Microsoft is actively working on mitigation actions, as stated in a post on social platform X.

SpiceJet and IndiGo have both tweeted about the disruptions, implementing manual processes and advising passengers to arrive early for check-in due to technical challenges. It is learned that the flight operations has been affected at Bengaluru International Airport.

More details can be found within the admin center under MO821132 and http://status.cloud.microsoft," tweets Microsoft as users face issue impacting their ability to access various Microsoft 365 apps and services. 

SpiceJet tweets, "We are currently experiencing technical challenges with our service provider, affecting online services including booking, check-in, and manage booking functionalities. As a result, we have activated manual check-in and boarding processes across airports. We kindly request passengers with upcoming travel plans to arrive at the airport earlier than usual to complete check-in at our counters..."

IndiGo tweets, "Our systems are currently impacted by a Microsoft outage, which is also affecting other companies. During this time booking, check-in, access to your boarding pass, and some flights may be impacted..."
