Apple is expected to launch its first foldable iPhone in 2026, with a premium price tag of approximately $2,000 (Rs 1,71,149.30), according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. This would position Apple's foldable device among the most expensive smartphones on the market, reflecting the company's high-end design approach.

Gurman recently stated that Apple’s foldable iPhone could arrive “as early as 2026,” reinforcing earlier reports by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who predicted a launch by late 2026 or early 2027. Kuo’s report also suggests the device will adopt a book-style foldable design, featuring a crease-free 7.8-inch inner display and a 5.5-inch outer screen. The phone may integrate Touch ID into the side button for added security.

Apple has been investing in foldable technology for years, aiming to compete in a market currently dominated by Chinese manufacturers. The final specifications of the foldable iPhone are expected to be locked in by mid-2025, with mass production slated for late 2026.

Beyond the foldable iPhone, Apple is also developing a large foldable iPad, which could unfold to a size larger than two iPad Pros combined. Reports suggest this device will focus on gaming and media experiences while maintaining portability.

While foldable phones remain a niche segment, industry analysts predict their popularity will surge, especially if Apple enters the category.
