With the rising number of vehicles, not only is pollution increasing, but so is the prevalence of respiratory diseases. Asthma currently affects 339 million people globally, with a staggering 455,000 deaths recorded in 2019.

In India alone, there are 34.3 million asthma sufferers, with Kerala experiencing a particularly high incidence. Symptoms of this condition include coughing, shortness of breath, and difficulty breathing due to inflammation and narrowing of the airways. Key challenges include escalating vehicle emissions and neonatal respiratory issues.

This year's World Asthma Day focuses on the empowering potential of awareness for patients. The campaign aims to equip patients with a deeper understanding of the disease, enabling them to take appropriate action when necessary.
