
Kalpetta: Writer T Padmanabhan presented the 23rd Padmaprabha Literary Award to poet, lyricist and director Sreekumaran Thampi. Mathrubhumi Managing Director M V Shreyams Kumar presided over the function held in Krishna Gowder Hall in Kalpetta. The function was attended by Mathrubhumi Chairman and Managing Editor P V Chandran, writer Alankode Leelakrishnan, Mathrubhumi Music Research Head Ravi Menon, director Ranjith, writer Subash Chandran, actor Jayaraj Warrier, P A Jaleel, P G Latha and many others.
The award constituted in the name of M K Padmaprabha Gowder, the modern founder of the Wayanad district, includes a cash prize of Rs 75,000, a plaque embellished with ruby stone and a citation.

Alankode Leelakrishnan delivered the memorial speech on M K Padmaprabha. Director Ranjith released the first copy of Sreekumaran Thampi’s autobiography ‘Jeevitham oru pendulum’. Sreekumaran Thampi shared his memories of M K Padmaprabha Gowder and recollected how Mathrubhumi Weekly has published most of his poems. He also sang the songs that he wrote during the function.
