Kozhikode: The day July 15, 2024 marks a special occasion as Malayalam's beloved literary icon, MT Vasudevan Nair, celebrates his 91st birthday. Since childhood, celebrating lavish birthdays is not a habit for the esteemed writer. But the day is one of celebration for Kerala. MT, known for his literary prowess, has been receiving warm wishes for good health and happiness from across the State.

This year's birthday holds a significance as nine films scripted by MT, featuring top directors and superstars, are set to be released soon. Named ‘Manoradhangal’, these films will now reach audiences through OTT platforms, bridging MT's storytelling genius with modern interactive cinema. Mohanlal stars in 'Olavum Theeravum,' directed by Priyadarshan, who also directs 'Shilalikhitham' starring Biju Menon. Ranjith directs 'Kadugannawa Oru Yathrakkurippu,' an autobiographical account of MT, starring Mammootty.

Having made Kozhikode his home 68 years ago, MT has had considerable impact in transforming the city into a hub of literature. After receiving UNESCO honours, Kozhikode continues to cherish MT, recognizing his literary contributions.

Since the age of 12, MT has been captivated by Kozhikode's charm, eventually making it his creative playground. His writings, published in Mathrubhumi weekly, have inspired generations of writers, blending nostalgia with profound insights into human nature.

On this special day, all Malayalees extend heartfelt birthday wishes to MT, the writer whose words from 'Sitara' on Kottaram Road, Nadakkavu, resonate with readers worldwide, guiding them with gentle yet powerful wisdom against misuse of authority.
