Anchal (Kollam): The record of yielding the heaviest and longest jackfruit in the world has been owned by Anchal town in Kollam. The giant jackfruit was found on the compound of Edamulakkal Neduvila native Johnkutty.
The jackfruit is 97 centimetres long and weighs 51.5 kilograms. The current Guinness record is owned by a 57.15 centimetre long jackfruit from Pune. It was yielded in 2016.
Johnkutty had to seek help of relatives to pluck the extraordinary jackfruit from the tree and bring it down. They knew the weight of jackfruit only after weighing it with machine. Following this, they informed the Limca Book of Records authorities.
Johnkutty said that Guinness authorities will be visiting in a few days to measure the jackfruit. Johnkutty is an employee of Velloor Hindustan Newsprint factory.
