Nadapuram: Teachers are in confusion over whether or not to conduct classes during the Plus one improvement examinations that are scheduled to begin Monday onwards. The education department also seems to lack clarity in this regard. The Principals of various schools initially gave instructions that teachers who do not have invigilation duty must report to school and conduct special classes for plus one students.

There are also some Principals who instructed teachers to take special classes on days when they have a break from invigilation duty. After the timetable was prepared and given to the students in this manner, another order followed which stated that teachers are not required to take class for first year students while the improvement exams are ongoing.

This order states that since the exams will be conducted for the same subjects that will be taught in the classes, it may affect the transparency of the exam. Thus, it advised against conducting any classes for plus one students during this period.

The instructions received from the Joint Director of Higher Secondary states that this order was issued after consulting the Examination Secretary and that the RDDs and Principals must make arrangements accordingly.

In contrast to this, another order was issued on Saturday by the General Education department stating that teachers who do not have invigilation duty should report to schools and conduct classes for plus one students in a manner that does not affect the conduct of the examination. Principals and teachers are in quandary over such contrasting orders being passed one after the other.
