NTA opens NTET 2026 applications for AYUSH postgraduates aspiring to teaching careers across India institutions.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has invited applications for the National Teachers Eligibility Test (NTET) - 2026 for postgraduates of Indian Systems of Medicine and Homeopathy who desire to take up the teaching profession.
The NTET-2026 for each discipline of Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani of Indian Systems of Medicine & Homeopathy shall be conducted for the postgraduates of each discipline of Indian system of medicine & Homeopathy who desire to take up the teaching profession.
The test is to assess teaching aptitude, communication skills, classroom management, teaching, training and assessment technology, student psychology, andragogy, pedagogy, or such other areas as may be specified by the Commissions from time to time.
The minimum eligibility criteria for appearing in the National Teachers’ Eligibility Test for the Indian System of Medicine & Homeopathy shall be a postgraduate degree holder in a discipline recognized by the Commissions or the erstwhile Central Council for the Indian System of Medicine/Central Council of Homeopathy. NTET-2026 will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode on 28 April 2026 (Tuesday). The duration for each test paper would be 120 minutes. Compensatory time for PwD/PwBD candidates will be 20 minutes for each hour. The test paper will consist of eight sections based on the units of the syllabus. All the sections will consist of objective type, multiple-choice questions (MCQs). There will be a total of 100 questions. The list of subjects and syllabus for NTET June 2026 are given in Appendix -II of the information bulletin.
The medium of the question paper shall be in English & Hindi only. Each question carries one mark. There will be no negative marking. Qualifying marks are 50%.
Qualifying NTET: A candidate securing a minimum of fifty percent marks shall be declared as qualified in the National Teachers’ Eligibility Test for the Indian System of Medicine/ Homeopathy. The qualified candidates shall be issued ‘NTET Certificate’ certificate by the respective commission.
The teachers' eligibility shall be valid for a period of ten years from the date of qualifying for the National Teachers’ Eligibility Test for the Indian System of Medicine/Homeopathy. Any NTET-qualified person who fails to join in the teaching profession within a period of ten years or after a break of ten years or more shall have to qualify once again for the National Teachers’ Eligibility Test for Indian System of Medicine/Homeopathy to join or re-join the teaching profession.
Role of NTA: The role of NTA is confined to the registration of candidates, the conduct of the test, hosting of answer keys, inviting challenges, finalizing answer keys, preparing and declaring results, and hosting scorecards.
The cities where the NTET 2026 will be conducted are given in Appendix-III. While applying, candidates must select any 3 cities of their choice. For convenience, the candidates may select their own city or neighbouring cities in their state of residence only and not far-away cities in other states.
Online registration and submission of the application form can be done at https://exams.nta.nic.in/ntet/ up to 11.50 pm on 2 April 2026. Application fee: General – Rs. 4000/-; General-EWS/ OBC-(NCL)- Rs. 3500; SC/ST/PwD/PwBD/Third Gender- Rs. 3000/-. The fee can be paid online through credit card/debit card/net banking/UPI till 11.50 pm on 3 April 2026.
Corrections in the particulars of the application form can be done online only from 4 April 2026 to 11.50 pm on 6 April 2026. The announcement of advance city intimation, downloading of admit cards, timing of examination, display of questions, recorded responses, and provisional answer and the declaration of the result will be made available at the website at appropriate times.
