RIE Bengaluru invites applications for PGDELT distance course 2026; Check eligibility, fee, schedule details.

The Regional Institute of English, South India, Jnanabharathi Campus, Bengaluru–560056, has invited applications for admission to the Post Graduate Diploma in English Language Teaching (PGDELT) course of one-year duration, to be held in distance mode.
The course aims to help candidates enhance their proficiency in the English language; acquire knowledge and skills related to English language teaching; become effective classroom teachers; become aware of the need for continuous professional development; and acquire core trainer skills, strategies and techniques for English language teaching.

Contact programme details
There will be two compulsory contact programmes. The first round of the programme will be for three working days in October 2026, to be conducted online. The second round of the programme, to be held offline, will be for 22 working days in April/May 2027, including the final examination and teaching practice. Students will be required to engage in supervised and assessed practice teaching when they attend the final contact programme.
Eligibility and application
Applicants should hold a graduation in any discipline. The admission information document is available at https://www.riesi.ac.in/pgdelt/.

The online application and course fee of Rs 10,250 is to be paid online along with the application.
Course details and completion
The course commences on 01.06.2026. Candidates will be provided with learning materials. Details are given in the notification.
A candidate is given four years to complete the course. If the candidate fails to complete the course within one year, he/she has to apply for re-admission by paying Rs 1,000. This facility is applicable for up to four years only. In case he/she fails to do so, he/she has to get readmission to the course by paying the full fee.
A candidate who fulfils the notified requirements as given in the admission information will be awarded a certificate at the end and given a grade on a six-point scale. The final grade point average will be based on the student's performance in assignments meant for internal assessment, final test and teaching practice, besides fulfilling other requirements such as 80% attendance in both the contact programmes and adherence to the schedule. Subject-wise evaluation/weighting break-up details are given in the notification.
Facilities and other information
Candidates will not be paid TA/DA for attending the contact programme.
