The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Sunday released the comprehensive schedule and procedural guidelines for Stage 2 of the National Institute of Fashion Technology Entrance Examination (NIFTEE) 2026.
The announcement follows the Stage 1 examinations held Feb. 8 across 129 centres in 97 cities, which utilised both computer-based and paper-based testing formats. Results for the initial phase were published on March 20.
According to the NTA, candidates were shortlisted for the second stage at a ratio of 1:4 per seat, adhering to NIFT’s approved category-wise matrix and specific criteria for candidates with disabilities.
Postgraduate Personal Interviews
For those seeking admission to the Master of Design (M.Des.), Master of Fashion Management (M.F.M.), and Master of Fashion Technology (M.F.Tech.) programs, Stage 2 will consist exclusively of personal interviews.
These sessions are scheduled to take place from April 6 to April 11. Notably, all postgraduate interviews will be held solely in New Delhi. The NTA emphasised that "no request for change of date or venue shall be entertained," and candidates must follow the specific reporting instructions detailed in their individual call letters.
Undergraduate Evaluation Criteria
The NTA outlined distinct Stage 2 requirements for various undergraduate tracks, which will be conducted across approximately 20 cities:
- Bachelor of Design (B.Des.): Shortlisted applicants must undergo a "Situation Test" designed to evaluate innovation, creativity, and proficiency in material handling and model construction.
- B.Des. (NLEA): Candidates entering through the NIFT Lateral Entry Admission will complete both a "Studio Test" and a personal interview on the same day.
- Artisans Category: Applicants under the B.Des. (Artisans) track will participate in an "Artisan Skill Test" followed immediately by a personal interview.
- B.F.Tech. (NLEA): These candidates are required to take a paper-based Technical Ability Test (TAT) in OMR format, paired with a personal interview.
Admit Cards and Communication
Specific details regarding examination dates, city assignments, and reporting times for undergraduate candidates will be provided on admit cards to be issued shortly.
The testing agency advised candidates to maintain a regular vigil on the official websites, exams.nta.nic.in/niftee and www.nta.ac.in, for the latest notifications. Applicants requiring assistance may contact the NTA help desk at 011-40759000 or via email at nift@nta.ac.in.
