New Delhi: The expert committee of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) recommended including 10 per cent of questions on 'critical thinking' in the university examinations of all courses.
The suggestion was put forward in the declaration released by NAAC in association with the procedures of accreditation and students’ evaluation of the higher education institutions in the nation. The new guideline has been introduced in allegiance to the National Education Policy which proposed to develop analytical and critical thinking in the students.
The inclusion of questions demanding critical evaluation will be introduced in the degree level examinations with a weightage of 10 per cent. Later, the weightage will be gradually increased to 40 per cent. Though sweeping changes came up in the higher education sector of India following the establishment of NAAC three decades ago, the committee found that no considerable changes were introduced in the question papers for evaluation.
