Thiruvananthapuram: In the first phase of engineering admissions in Kerala, candidates with ranks up to 21,924 who had submitted options for various branches or government colleges were allotted seats under the State Merit (SM) category in government, aided, or aided autonomous colleges.

Student Interests

As in previous years, Computer Science and Engineering and its allied branches remained the most preferred choices among students in the Government category. The State Merit (SM) seat for Computer Science and Engineering (Artificial Intelligence), offered exclusively at TKM College, was the first to be filled, with the final allotment rank closing at 2,205. Electrical and Computer Engineering, offered at both CET (TVE) and TKM, had its final State Merit allotment at rank 2,902.

The final State Merit rank for Computer Science and Engineering in 10 Government, Aided, and Aided Autonomous colleges closed at 3,545. The final SM ranks in the first allotment for other branches in this category are as follows:

  • Civil (10): TVE -5059, TCR -8797, TKM -9896.

Across all these branches, student preference is in the order: CET (TVE), Thrissur (TCR), and TKM. The final State Merit ranks for other branches at CET (TVE) are as follows:

Applied Electronics -1885, Electrical and Computer - 1502, Industrial - 7363.

Computer Science and Engineering continues to be a preferred branch in several other institutions as well. At Model Engineering College, Thrikkakara, an IHRD institution under the government cost-sharing category, the final State Merit (SM) rank for the Government Quota in this branch is 1,217, with the highest admitted rank being 47. Only two out of ten government colleges recorded a lower (more competitive) final SM rank in this branch than Model Engineering College. Under the Management Quota at the same institution, the final rank in this branch closed at 2,374. Notably, in four government colleges, the final SM rank in this branch was lower than 2,374.

Other colleges where students have shown significant interest in this branch include:

SCT (KSRTC) - Last rank - SM, Management, respectively -4721, 7515; CHN (Chengannur College of Engineering - IHRD) -8240, 13,804.

The final SM ranks in other branches of Model Engineering College are: Computer Science and Business Systems -3085, Electronics and Biomedical -7903, Electronics (VLSI Design and Technology) -4844, Electronics and Communication -1994, Electrical and Electronics -4813, Mechanical - 9161.

Other branches and colleges where candidates with ranks below 10,000 were accepted in the cost sharing college: Electronics and Communication-6871 (SCT), Computer Science and Engineering (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning) -6703 (SCT)

Private Self-financing Colleges

In the private self-financing category, the last SM rank for Computer Science and Engineering was within 10,000 in three colleges. RET (Rajagiri School, Ernakulam) -4254; MUT (Muthoot Institute, Ernakulam) -5775; FIT (Federal Institute, Ernakulam) - 8033.

Other branches and colleges where candidates with ranks below 10,000 were admitted to self-financing colleges: Electronics and Communication-7816 (MUT), 7356 (RET); Artificial Intelligence and Data Science -6899 (RET); Computer Science and Engineering (Artificial Intelligence) -8251 (MUT); Computer Science and Business Systems -7678 (RET).

A total of 27,021 candidates have been included in the first phase of engineering allotments. The list features candidates with engineering ranks ranging from Rank 1, who has been allotted a seat in Computer Science and Engineering at CET (TVE), to Rank 67,489, who secured a seat in Electronics and Communication.

Among the top 100 rank holders, 22 candidates have received allotments. Of these, 21 have opted for Computer Science and Engineering, while one has chosen Electronics and Communication. Notably, 21 of the 22 have selected CET (TVE), and one has chosen Model Engineering College.

Additionally, 162 candidates in the list hold ranks within the top 500, while 409 candidates are ranked up to 1,000. The last rank allotted under the State Merit category in any college is 67,458, which corresponds to a seat in a private self-financing institution.
