Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR), an Autonomous Organisation, Ministry of Education, Govt. Of India; 35, Ferozeshah Road, New Delhi-110001 has invited applications for the Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) of ICHR.
The Fellowship is a whole-time engagement for research work and cannot be combined with any other whole-time or part-time work. Detailed Terms and Conditions can be seen in the ICHR Research Funding Rules booklet, ‘Chapter-II- Fellowships’ which is available at www.ichr.ac.in
The period of the Fellowship shall be for a maximum period of 2 years. Selected fellows will be awarded fellowship of Rs. 17600/- per month plus contingency grant of Rs. 16500/- per annum for a period of 2 years.
The maximum number of Junior Research Fellowships to be awarded for 2022-2023 are 80, applying the usual reservation for SC, ST & PwD.
Eligibility: Applicant should have registered in recognized Universities for Ph.D. programme in Historical Studies.
Selection: Selection of applicants will be done in 2 stages.
Stage I will be a selection test (date to be announced later) consisting of 100 online Objective type questions, each carrying 1 mark. Applicant has to choose his/her area of specialisation (Ancient/ Medieval/Modern India) at the time of filling online JRF application form. All the questions in the question paper will be based on the area of specialisation opted by the candidate in the application form. There will be no negative marking.
Stage I examination will be held at New Delhi, Bengaluru, Guwahati, Pune centres of ICHR.
Those shortlisted on the basis of merit of Stage I examination will be called for the Stage II- Presentation and Interview. Each shortlisted candidate will make a Presentation based on his/her registered PhD research topic (8-10 minutes, preferably PowerPoint) followed by an interview. Presentation and Interview will carry a maximum of 60 marks. Stage II (Presentation and Interview) will be conducted at the ICHR, Headquarters, Delhi only.
Final merit will be drawn on the basis of aggregate marks of Stage I and II (100 + 60 = 180 marks).
Application: Applications can be submitted on-line at www.ichr.ac.in latest by 31.5.2022. Application fee is Rs. 500/- to be paid online through the application portal at the time of filling up the form. Applicants of SC/ST/PwD category are exempted from payment of the application fee.
Hard copy of the application generated after filling of online application [with auto generated number] duly signed and along with the requisite documents should be sent by post to reach ‘Member Secretary, Indian Council of Historical Research, No.35, Ferozeshah Road, New Delhi-110001’ latest by 12.6.2022.
All JRF applicants should apply through proper channel (Recommended by the Research Supervisor and Forwarded by the Head of the Department/Centre/Principal).
