Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR), 35, Ferozeshah Road, New Delhi-110001 has invited applications for the Senior Academic Fellowship (SAF) & Post-Doctoral Fellowship (PDF) 2023-2024.

The maximum period of SAF and PDF shall be 2 years. There will be a maximum of 10 fellowships in each category and will be awarded as per the usual reservation for SC, ST& PwD. The Fellowships shall be a whole-time engagement for research work and cannot be combined with any other whole-time or part-time work. Details are given in the Terms and Conditions in the ICHR Research Funding Rules booklet available at www.ichr.ac.in.

The award of SAF will be based on personal interaction and award of PDF through presentation-cum- interview, to be held at ICHR office(s) through online/offline mode. Details will be announced on the website. 

The value of PDF will be Rs.30800/- per month and contingency grant of Rs.22000/- per annum. The value of SAF is Rs. 44,000/- per month with a contingency grant of Rs. 44,000/- per annum.

Eligibility for Post-Doctoral Fellowship: Applicant should have shown significant competence in research work, having been awarded PhD or should have done equivalent research work of merit in History or its allied subjects. Applicant should have the desire to work on approved research themes at recognized Institutions of Research or Universities under the guidance of a Senior Scholar. The applicants for the Fellowship should be affiliated with a University or a research institute of repute. ICHR does not protect pay of any candidate selected for the PDF. They are eligible only for fellowship grant only on whole time award.

For Senior Academic Fellowship (S.A.F.), applicant should be at least 50 years old with minimum teaching/research experience of 15 years, minimum 10 research articles in peer reviewed/acclaimed journals and One standard book/experience of successfully completing two research projects.

Application may be submitted in prescribed application form at www.ichr.ac.in. There is an application fee of Rs. 600/- for PDF applicants to be paid in the form of a Demand Draft drawn in favour of the DDO, ICHR, payable at Delhi. SC/ST/PwD category applicants are exempted from payment of the fee.
