National Testing Agency (NTA) has invited applications for the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) – 2025 for admission to Under Graduate programs at NITs, IIITs and GFTIs.
The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) (Main) comprises of two papers. Paper 1 is conducted for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs (B.E. / B. Tech.) at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) and Institutions / Universities funded / recognized by participating State Governments. Paper 2 is conducted for admission to B. Arch and B. Planning courses in these institutions. Paper 1 of JEE (Main) is also an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), which is conducted for admission to IITs.
JEE (Main) 2025 will be conducted in 2 sessions for admissions for 2025-26. The first session will be conducted between 22 January and 31 January 2025 and the second session, between 01 April and 08 April 2025 (Tentatively) in multiple shifts. One can appear for one session only or for both sessions. If one appears for 2 sessions, then his/her best of the JEE (Main) 2025 NTA Scores will be considered for preparation of the Merit List/ Ranking. For multi-shift papers, raw (actual) marks obtained by the candidates in different shifts/sessions will be converted to NTA Score. Format of JEE (Main) 2025: (a) Paper 1 (B.E. /B. Tech.) in ‘Computer Based Test (CBT)’ mode (b) Paper 2A (B. Arch): Mathematics (Part-I) and Aptitude Test (Part-II) in CBT mode and Drawing Test (Part-III) in pen and paper (offline) mode, to be attempted on drawing sheet of A4 size (c) Paper 2B (B. Planning): Mathematics (Part-I), Aptitude Test (Part-II), and Planning-Based Questions (Part-III) in CBT mode. Detailed structure and the syllabus of the papers is given in the Information Bulletin. Questions of JEE (Main) 2025 will be provided in 13 languages- English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. The details related to the availability of questions in specified languages in various centres is specified in the Information Bulletin. The option of language for Questions should be exercised while filling up the online Application Form and it cannot be changed at a later stage.
Eligibility: There is no age limit for appearing in JEE (Main) 2025. However, candidates may be required to fulfil the age criteria of the Institute(s) to which they are desirous of taking admission.
Applicant should have passed Class XII / equivalent examination in 2023, 2024 or should be appearing in 2025. The Qualifying examinations include the final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized Central/ State Board, such as the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi; etc; and other equivalent examinations listed in the Information Bulletin.
Subject requirements: Subject required in the qualifying examination for admission to B.E./B.Tech, B. Arch and B. Planning Courses in NITs, IIITs, and other CFTIs: (i) B.E/B.Tech. -Passed qualifying examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory Subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/ Technical Vocational subjects (ii) B.Arch. - Passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or passed the 10+3 Diploma Examination with Mathematics as a compulsory subject (iii) B. Planning - Passed qualifying examination with Mathematics as a subject. The marks requirements in the qualifying examination is given in the information Bulletin.
A candidate can apply for Session-1 (January 2025) examination and pay the exam fee accordingly. Candidates will be given opportunity to apply for Session-2 (April 2025) separately (using same application number) along with the fee payment, for which separate notification will be issued. If a candidate wishes to apply for Session 2 (April 2025), the candidate can log in and pay the Examination Fee for Session 2 during that period. If candidate wishes to apply only for Session-2 (April 2025), he/she can register later, when application form for Session-2 (April 2025) is active.
Application: Online Submission of Application Form for Session 1 can be submitted latest by 9 pm on 22.11.2024. Application Fee can be paid by 11.50 pm on 22.11.2024 online through Net Banking, Credit Card, Debit Card, or UPI Services. The fee to be paid for each session is given in the Information Bulletin.
Exam Cities: The Cities where the JEE (Main) – 2025 Session 1 will be conducted are given in Appendix –VII of the Information Bulletin. While applying, candidates have to select any four cities of their choice. Efforts will be made to allot the city of examination to the candidates in order of choice opted by them in their online Application Form. However, due to administrative/logistic reasons, a different city can be allotted.
Application can be submitted in three steps- Registration, Application submission and Fee Payment. After successful payment, candidate will be able to print the Confirmation Page which may be retained by the candidate for future reference. Candidates are not required to send the confirmation page to NTA.
The merit list / scores / result of JEE (Main) – 2025 may be utilized by other Entities of Central / State Governments with their eligibility criteria / norms / applicable regulations / guidelines / rules.
