Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur has invited applications for the Summer Undergraduate Research at Jodhpur (SURAJ) Programme that offers undergraduate students an opportunity to gain hands-on research experience under the mentorship of IIT Jodhpur faculty.

The internships are offered during the summer (May to July).

Undergraduate students from NITs/IITs/IISERs, who are currently enrolled in that institute as regular students, are eligible. Exceptional students from other prestigious institutions currently enrolled in that institution as regular students may also apply.

Internships are offered by Departments/Schools/Centres. They include (a) Departments of Bioscience & Bioengineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Civil and Infrastructure Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Physics (b) Schools of Artificial Intelligence & Data Science; Design; Liberal Arts; Management & Entrepreneurship (c) Research Centres including Centre for Emerging Technologies for Sustainable Development (CETSD); Centre for Education Technology (CET); Centre for AIoT and Application; Centre for Technology Foresight and Policy (CTFP); Manekshaw Centre (MCOENSSR), Medical Technologies Centre; Centre for Digital Health.

Students are strongly encouraged to explore faculty profiles, research labs, and project areas before applying. Only a limited number of seats are available. So applicants with strong academic credentials and relevant interests will be given preference.

Duration of internship: Internships can be offered for periods of 2 months. The duration will be decided within the given time block by the project mentors and interns mutually based on the nature of the project/requirement of project-related work and the availability of other logistics.

Enrolment Status: Applicants should be in the 3rd year of B.Tech./B.E. or in the 1st year of M.Sc. with academic requirements of a minimum CGPA of 7.0 / 10 (after 5th semester for B.Tech. students and after 1st semester for M.Sc. students)

Stipend Eligibility: An intern will be eligible for a stipend of Rs. 6000/- per month, for a maximum duration of 2 months, subject to the following conditions: (i) Pursuing B.Tech./B.S. (Completed 5th Semester) or M.Sc. (Completed 1st Semester) at NITs, having MoU with IIT Jodhpur (ii) Minimum CGPA: 7.0/10 (At the end of 5th Semester for B.Tech./B.S. and 1st Semester for M.Sc.) (iii) a satisfactory grade from the project mentor at the end of the internship.

Even if a student does not meet the above criteria, they will be allowed to participate in the internship without receiving the stipend and faculty members may provide a stipend through projects.

Travel & Accommodation: Travel expenses to/from IIT Jodhpur shall be borne by the interns/applicants. Hostel and mess charges shall be paid by the interns/applicants at standard rates. Interns may apply for hostel accommodation after the final admission. Allotment is subject to availability.
