CBSE has announced refunds for students affected by technical glitches during the Class 12 re-evaluation and answer sheet verification process after complaints over excess fee deductions.

New Delhi: The CBSE said technical problems on May 21 and 22 led to incorrect fee deductions while students were applying for scanned copies of evaluated answer sheets.
According to the Board, some students were charged extra amounts while others were billed less during the online process. CBSE clarified that excess payments would be refunded automatically to the same payment method used by students during the transaction.

Education Minister sought detailed report
The development comes after Dharmendra Pradhan reportedly sought a detailed report from CBSE following complaints raised by students and parents regarding server issues and payment gateway failures.
Several students had claimed that money was deducted from their accounts even though the application process was not completed successfully.
The Board later said it was closely monitoring all reported technical problems and taking corrective measures.
CBSE assured students that scanned copies of evaluated answer sheets would still be provided in affected cases without requiring fresh applications. The Board added that students whose payments were lower than the required amount would be informed separately if any balance payment was needed.
It also requested parents and students not to panic, stating that the verification and re-evaluation mechanism was meant to address genuine academic concerns fairly.
Revised fee structure introduced this year
CBSE has reduced the fee structure for re-evaluation-related services this year. Students can now obtain scanned copies of answer sheets by paying ₹100 instead of ₹700 charged earlier.
The fee for verification of marks has also been reduced from ₹500 to ₹100, while re-evaluation costs ₹25 per question.
The Board stated that exceptionally high traffic on the online portal during peak periods contributed to the technical disruptions.
The Class 12 board examinations were conducted between February 17 and April 10, while results were declared on May 13. Students applying for scanned copies of answer sheets are expected to receive access between May 26 and May 29.
