Thiruvananthapuram: Two weeks ago, the administrative tribunal had instructed the state government to give temporary postings to the 43 college principals who were included in the PSC approved list. The deadline was set on August 17. However, the state government has failed to adhere to the directions of the tribunal. Since five candidates in the above mentioned list have already retired, the government is now preparing to submit a new petition.

However, this move from the government is being widely criticised and is being described as a delay tactic. Seven teachers from the PSC approved list have submitted a contempt of court petition to the tribunal in connection with the incident. The same teachers had earlier sought justice from the tribunal due to the prolonged delay in their appointments.

Meanwhile, the state government always had other plans. They wanted to scrap the existing list and create an entirely new list; they had even prepared a draft list of 76 candidates in this regard. But all these attempts of the state government were deemed invalid with the verdict of the administrative tribunal. It should be noted that the ministry had earlier agreed upon giving temporary postings to the 43 college principals with immediate effect, but has failed to keep its word.
