As heavy monsoon showers continue to lash several parts of the country, students and parents are awaiting clarity on whether schools will remain closed on Saturday, July 11.

While a few districts suspended classes on Friday due to heavy rainfall and waterlogging, most states are yet to announce fresh closures for July 11.

Authorities are closely monitoring weather conditions and are expected to issue district-wise decisions wherever necessary.

Uttar Pradesh: No statewide holiday announced

There is no statewide school holiday notification in Uttar Pradesh for July 11 so far. In Ghaziabad, schools from Nursery to Class 12 remained closed on July 10 after the district administration declared a holiday due to heavy rainfall and waterlogging. However, no fresh order has been issued for Saturday. Any further decision will depend on the latest weather conditions and local administration advisories.

Delhi-NCR: Schools expected to function normally

No official holiday has been announced for Delhi, Noida, Gurugram or Faridabad on July 11. Schools are expected to remain open unless individual district administrations issue weather-related advisories. Parents are advised to follow updates from their schools, especially if heavy rainfall intensifies.

Telangana: Schools to remain open

Schools across Telangana will remain open on July 11. The School Education Department has declared the second Saturday as a working day to compensate for academic time lost during the extended summer vacation. While some private schools remained shut on July 10 due to the statewide bandh, there is no official government holiday for July 11.

Kerala: No statewide holiday, district-wise decisions likely

Kerala has not announced a statewide school holiday for July 11. However, with the India Meteorological Department forecasting continued rainfall in several districts, district collectors may declare local holidays if weather conditions worsen. In recent days, districts including Kozhikode, Malappuram and Wayanad suspended classes due to heavy rain, highlighting that closures in Kerala are generally announced district-wise based on local conditions.

Other states

Several parts of Karnataka, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand and other rain-affected states remain under heavy rainfall alerts issued by the IMD. While no blanket holiday has been announced for July 11 in these states, local administrations may declare school closures in districts experiencing severe weather.

Where to check official updates

Students and parents should rely only on official sources for the latest announcements:

  • District administration websites
  • State education department portals
  • Official school websites and communication channels
  • Local municipal and district administration advisories

As the southwest monsoon remains active across large parts of India, school holiday decisions are expected to remain district-specific and weather-dependent. Parents are advised to check with their respective schools before sending children to classes on July 11.
