MEA invites applications for 10 consultant roles in MER Division, eligibility, pay, tenure, application process

The Administration Division, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan, New Delhi, has invited applications for the engagement of 10 consultants in the Multilateral Economic Relations (MER) Division of the Ministry of External Affairs.
The period of consultancy will be for one year. The contract can be extended further depending on the assessment of performance, mutual willingness, and depending on the requirement. The contract may be terminated on one month’s notice from either side or on payment of one month’s pay in lieu thereof.
Job Location: Ministry of External Affairs (South Block/Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan/Sushma Swaraj Bhawan/Patiala House/ISIL Building/CCS Building), New Delhi.
Remuneration & Entitlements
The remuneration package will be commensurate with the experience and profile of the selected candidate, subject to a maximum of Rs. 10 lakh per annum and deduction of applicable taxes. The amount of the consultancy fee so fixed shall remain unchanged during the term of engagement. Details are given in the Notification at https://www.mea.gov.in/ (Careers > Vacancies link).

Qualifications
The applicant should be an Indian national and should possess a higher qualification (master’s or above) from a reputed Indian or international institution/university in economics/development cooperation/development partnership/international relations/international law/international development/strategic studies/public administration/international trade/environment and climate/trade/agriculture/labour economics/energy/health/disaster management/anti-
corruption or a related subject.
The applicant should have one year of experience as a Consultant in relevant field; should possess good writing and analytical skills and experience in policy making and advocacy; experience in speech writing, analytical writing and preparing negotiation strategies; and be proficiency in use of computers (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
The applicant should not be more than 35 years old as of the last date of submission of the application.

Applications can be submitted as per the proforma at Annexure I of the Notification. Documents/certificates in support of educational qualifications and experience in government service should be attached with the application.
Completed applications along with supporting documents can be submitted to the Ministry in offline mode by registered post in an envelope labelled as ‘Application for the position of Consultant in the MER Division of Ministry of External Affairs’ addressed to ‘Under Secretary (PF&PG) Ministry of External Affairs, Room No. 4071, Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan, 23-D, Janpath, New Delhi-110011’.
It can also be submitted in online mode, through email with the subject clearly mentioning the name of the candidate and the position against which the application is being submitted. The email is to be sent to the email address: aopfsec@mea.gov.in
Applications will be accepted till 1730 hrs on 16th January, 2026.
The Ministry of External Affairs will review the applications and shortlist the candidates for interview/written test. The shortlisted candidates will be intimated by email. The date, time and venue of the interview will be conveyed through email at the email address provided by the applicants.
