Central Institute of Fisheries Nautical and Engineering Training (CIFNET), Fine Arts Avenue, Cochin -16, under Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying (Department of Fisheries), Government of India has invited applications for admission to the Vessel Navigator Course (VNC) and Marine Fitter Course (MFC) for the year 2023-2024.

These Courses are introduced by DGT, New Delhi under Craftsmen Training Scheme of NCVT. Both are 2-year trade courses with practical training on board deep sea fishing vessel out at sea. The courses are conducted at CIFNET Kochi/Chennai/Visakhapatnam. 

Eligibility: Applicant should have passed 10th standard with 40% marks in Mathematics and Science separately. Those appearing for 10th examination during 2023 are also eligible. 

Age: Applicant should be between 15 to 20 years of age as on 1st August 2023. Upper Age limit is relaxable by 5 years to SC/ST. 

Intake capacity: There are 20 seats for each course at Kochi, Chennai and Vizag (Total 40 x 3 =120 Seats). Of these 16 seats at each centre is for Gen/Gen-EWS/OBC-NCL/SC/ST. There are 4 seats at each center/course unbder State Government/UT Sponsorship, preferably from fishermen community. 

Selection: Selection will be based on an All India basis Common Entrance Test (CET) to be held at Kochi, Chennai, Vizag, Kolkatta on 05.08.2023. 

Result of CRT will be published at www.cifnet.gov.in on 11.08.2023. 

Candidates have to check the result at CIFNET website and attend the centralised counselling as per the result to be held at CIFNET Kochi on 18.8.2023. 

Stipend: The Selected candidates will be paid Rs.1500/- per month as stipend. On completion of VNC/MFC, Post Institutional Training will also be offered with stipend of Rs. 20500/- pm and onetime Uniform allowance of Rs. 2500/- with the bond, duly signed by the Applicant/Parent. 

Application: Application form and Prospectus will be made available for downloading at www.cifnet.gov.in. Application fee: Rs. 350/- for General/OBC and Rs. 175/- for SC/ST to be paid by way of Demand Draft drawn in favour of ‘Pay and Accounts Officer, Kochi’ payable at Ernakulam.  

Filled in application along with necessary documents like mark sheet (SSLC/HSC), valid community certificate if SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/ EWS and Original Demand Draft drawn in favour of Pay and Accounts Officer, Kochi must reach ‘The Director, CIFNET, Fine Arts Avenue, Kochi-682016’ latest by 17.07.2023.
