Forest Research Institute, Dehradun, Uttarakhand - 248 195, a Deemed to be University, has invited applications for enrolment in Ph.D. Programme in Forestry 2024 for the term of March 2025.

Pant Institute of Himalayan Environment & Development, Almora (vi) Himalayan Forest Research Institute, Shimla (vii) Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, Dehradun (viii) Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal (ix) Institute of Forest Biodiversity, Hyderabad (x) Institute of Forest Genetics and Tree Breeding, Coimbatore (xi) Institute of Forest Productivity, Ranchi (xii) Institute of Wood Science & Technology, Bangalore (xiii) Kerala Forest Research Institute, Thrissur, Kerala (xiv) Rain Forest Research Institute, Jorhat (xv) Tropical Forest Research Institute, Jabalpur.

Eligibility: Applicant should hold a Master’s Degree or M.Phil Degree in the specified subject with the specified marks/grade. The Program specific eligibility is given in the detailed Notification.  

Selection: Applicants with a fellowship/scholarship in UGC-NET/UGC- CSIR NET/GATE/CEED and similar National level tests will be considered first for admission based on interviews. 

If seats remain unfilled after this, remaining vacant seats will be allotted to those candidates who have qualified UGC-NET/UGC-CSIR NET/GATE/CEED and similar National level tests without fellowship/scholarships and those who qualify in the entrance test of Forest Research Institute, Dehradun, after interview.  

The Forest Research Institute entrance test would be held offline in OMR (Pen and Paper) mode at different Research centres of Forest Research Institute deemed to be University on 18.08.2024.

It will have 50% questions from Research methodology and 50% questions shall be subject- specific questions. Those who secure 50 % marks in the entrance test are eligible to be called for the interview. A relaxation of 5% marks will be allowed in the entrance examination for the candidates belonging to reserved categories. Those who have qualified UGC-NET/UGC-CSIR NET/GATE/CEED and similar National level tests without fellowship/scholarships may also appear for the FRI Entrance Test.

Those who have qualified UGC-NET/UGC-CSIR NET/ GATE/ CEED and similar National level tests with or without fellowship/scholarship as well as from other candidates interested to appear in Ph. D. Entrance Test to be conducted by FRI Deemed to be University may apply to the centre chosen for research latest by 28.06.2024 with a fee of Rs.1500/- through Bank Draft in favor of Registrar, FRI Deemed to be University, Dehradun.
