The National School of Drama (NSD), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, has announced its Theatre Appreciation Course, which will be held from January 28 to February 5, 2025, at the NSD campus in New Delhi. This course is designed for individuals who wish to deepen their understanding of theatre and its nuances.

The course will feature lectures and discussions by renowned theatre experts from across the country. Participants will also have the opportunity to view plays as part of the curriculum. While there will be no practical sessions, a writing workshop may be included in the course schedule. The aim is to foster an appreciation for the art form through a series of theoretical sessions.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Age: Applicants must be above 18 years of age as of January 1, 2025.
  • Language Proficiency: A working knowledge of Hindi and/or English is required.
  • Nationality: Applicants must be Indian nationals living in India.
  • Seats Available: The course is open to a maximum of 100 participants.

Application Process:

Interested candidates can submit their applications online at www.nsd.gov.in. The last date for submission is January 15, 2025, by 11:59 PM. The application form fee is ₹100.

Fees and Payment:

  • Registration Fee: Selected candidates will be required to pay a registration fee of ₹5000 online before joining the course.
  • Travel and Accommodation: Outstation candidates are welcome to apply but will need to arrange their own travel, boarding, and lodging. No TADA (Travel Allowance and Daily Allowance) will be provided.

Selection Procedure:

The selection of candidates will be based on the applications submitted. A selection committee will shortlist candidates, and those selected will be informed via email.
