GIFT Thiruvananthapuram invites applications for its hybrid-mode PG Diploma in GST till July 7

Gulati Institute of Finance and Taxation (GIFT) [formerly Centre for Taxation studies (CTS)], an autonomous institution of Government of Kerala, has invited applications for admission to the one-year Post Graduate Diploma in Goods and Services Taxation [PGD-GST]
The program is designed to cater to the ever-growing demand from trade and industry for competent and skilled GST professionals like tax practitioners, accountants, and legal consultants.
PGD-GST focuses on imparting practical skills through training the learners on all aspects of GST laws, procedures & accounting. This course enables the participants to acquire professional skills in GST, which are in high demand in trade and industry.
Graduates or postgraduates having a degree in commerce, law, banking (including higher auditing), business administration, or business management from any Indian university or foreign university recognised by any Indian university, or who have passed the final examination of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, the Institute of Cost Accountants of India, or the Institute of Company Secretaries of India are eligible for enrollment as goods and services tax practitioners.
The PGD-GST course consists of five papers, and the medium of instruction and examination will be English. The papers are (i) Goods and Services Tax: Law & Practice - 1 (ii) Goods and Services Tax: Law & Practice - II (iii) Integrated Goods and Services Tax: Law & Practice (iv) Economics of Taxation & General Laws of Taxation (v) Accounting & Management for GST. For an effective bridging between theory and practice, the training program also offers the students the opportunity to practice statutory filings in a realistic, simulated environment. Through the simulated website, the program will provide a platform for the effective learning of the important GST filings. Details are given in the prospectus.
The course will be imparted through a training program of 180 hours covering all the theoretical and practical aspects of GST. The 180-hour training programs will be conducted through classrooms/online/hybrid mode to accommodate employed persons and students who pursue other courses. A minimum attendance of 80 percent is mandatory to complete the training program. Training certificate will be issued to students only on completion of the assignments provided through the software.
Only those who complete the training programs by fulfilling minimum attendance requirements will be eligible to apply & appear for the PGD-GST examination that will be conducted during April/May at Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, and Kozhikode.
Eligibility: Applicant should be a graduate—general (B.Com, BBA, BSc, BA, or equivalent) or graduate law (LLB, BL, or equivalent); CA/CMA/CS (Intermediate/Final) or postgraduate (M.Com, MBA, MSc, MA, or equivalent) or postgraduate diploma in Taxation (PGDT) of CTS/GIFT
There is no age limit for joining this course.
Those pursuing a final-year degree or expecting their results for degree examination can also join PGD-GST. Such students will be permitted to write the examination only after submitting their provisional degree certificate.
