Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune has announced the admission to the Basic Course in Smartphone Film Making to be conducted Online & on Weekends, from 1st to 30th May 2021.

Classes will be held in 5 weekends, for 10 days, only on Saturdays & Sundays) @ 4 hours a day from 10 am to 12 noon and 3 pm to 5 pm. Classes will be held Online in Google Classroom & Google Meet platform and medium of Instructions will be English.

The course will cover Introduction to the language of cinema, Its basic building blocks-shots, Terminology, psychology and grammar; the process of seeing and imagining in terms of this language of picture and sound; Composition and aesthetics ; The smartphone as a device to translate this and give it form; Functionalities of the phone camera, controls and usage; Accessories for filming and usage; Light, its meaning and importance, working with light and colour; Optimizing usage of available light and working with basic lights; Sound and its significance, usage of sound. Recording audio; Linkages of picture and sound-shots, scenes, sequences; Editing audio and video on device; Developing a storyline. Script and storyboard; Ideation, planning of final film project; Shooting and editing of film project; Screening and review. There will be accompanying screening of illustrative material and films and shooting and editing exercises with Q & A and pointers.

A maximum of 40 students will be admitted. However, Course will be conducted only if there are at least 32 participants.  

Eligibility: Applicant should be 18 years & above as on 1st May 2021 and should have passed HSC (12th pass). In exceptional cases, 10th pass may be considered

The course fee is Rs 10,400/- for Indian Nationals and Rs. 31,200/- for others (Foreigners, NRI, OCI etc. and those Indian nationals who are presently staying outside India). The fee has to be paid Online through SBI Collect along with application form. Course fee of all the non-selected participants will be returned within 07-10 days of the course commencement.

Selection will be on First – Come – First -Served Basis. Selection emails will be sent to all the selected participants.
