Built on the advanced INGLO platform, it promises spacious interiors, a low center of gravity for better handling, and a range of up to 500 km.

Mahindra Group has officially named its upcoming seven-seater electric SUV as the XEV 9S. Built on Mahindra’s advanced purpose-built INGLO platform , the XEV 9S represents a significant step in the company’s all-electric vehicle journey. The world premiere of the XEV 9S is scheduled for November 27 at the 'Scream Electric' event in Bengaluru, marking one year of Mahindra's electric vehicle efforts and expansion of the INGLO portfolio.
The XEV 9S will feature a purpose-built electric skateboard architecture that prioritises spacious interiors with a flat floor, allowing flexible seating arrangements such as sliding second-row seats to enhance passenger comfort. This new SUV boasts a low centre of gravity for better stability and ride comfort, ideal for families.
It will offer battery options similar to the Mahindra XEV 9e, including 59 kWh and 79 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) packs. The XEV 9S is expected to feature both single-motor rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive options, the latter making its debut with this model. The expected real-world range is approximately 450-500 km on a single charge.
Design-wise, the XEV 9S will have an SUV look inspired by the XUV700 but will include EV-specific elements such as a closed front grille, full-width light bar, inverted L-shaped DRLs, connected LED tail-lights, and aero-optimised alloy wheels.
Inside, the SUV is likely to feature a sophisticated triple 12.3-inch screen dashboard setup for infotainment, instrument cluster, and passenger entertainment. Additional premium features anticipated include a two-spoke steering wheel, augmented reality heads-up display (AR-HUD), multi-zone climate control, and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with Dolby Atmos.
The Mahindra XEV 9S combines power, presence, and a family-sized electric SUV experience, reflecting a major evolution in Mahindra’s electric vehicle lineup. Pricing is expected to be in the range of Rs 20-30 lakh (ex-showroom).
The full reveal of the XEV 9S will bring more detailed specifications as Mahindra aims to expand its EV footprint with this versatile seven-seater electric SUV.
