New Delhi: BMW Group India on Friday announced it has surpassed 5,000 electric vehicle (EV) deliveries, becoming the first luxury carmaker in the country to reach the milestone. The German automaker also inaugurated a high-power charging corridor spanning 4,000 km from north to south India.

The corridor will have charging stations every 300 km, designed to ensure smooth long-distance EV travel without concerns over range or charging availability.

The route strategically covers national highways and major cities, including Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune, Hubballi, Bengaluru, Coimbatore and Madurai. To encourage wider adoption of e-mobility, BMW has opened access to the charging corridor for customers of all EV brands in India.

“BMW Group India is immensely proud to become the first luxury carmaker to cross the remarkable milestone of 5,000 electric vehicle deliveries. This achievement is not just a number; it represents our unwavering commitment to e-mobility and pioneering spirit in the premium EV landscape,” said Vikram Pawah, president and CEO of BMW Group India.

Charging stations along the corridor will range from 120kW to 720kW in capacity. The automaker said locations were chosen to allow customers to stop at nearby cafés, restaurants or public spaces while their vehicles charge, or to make use of BMW’s in-car entertainment features.

BMW also highlighted its digital integration, offering drivers live charger status, partner preferences, capacity filters, and nearby amenity details through in-app and in-car systems.

"The locations have been chosen mindfully, where customers can make a quick stop for a coffee or hot meal at nearby public spaces while their vehicle is charged or simply enjoy the in-car entertainment features of BMW EVs", BMW India stated.

The stations will be operated in partnership with leading providers such as Statiq and Zeon. Alongside nearly 300 BMW destination chargers installed at premium hotels, resorts and malls, the new corridor strengthens the company’s public charging ecosystem for both inter-city and intra-city travel.

In total, BMW Group India now offers access to over 6,000 charging points nationwide through strategic partnerships with major public charging networks.
