Samsung Galaxy users may be unaware that their phones come with a built-in tool that can dramatically improve internet performance. The feature, called Connectivity Labs, is buried deep within the Wi-Fi settings of newer Samsung phones and offers a range of diagnostic tools to test, analyse, and optimise wireless connections.

A hidden feature in Samsung’s Wi-Fi settings

The Connectivity Labs option doesn’t appear in standard menus. To access it, users need a Samsung device running One UI 6 or later, typically models launched after the Galaxy S20 series.

To unlock the feature:

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Tap Connections → Wi-Fi.
  • Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner and select Intelligent Wi-Fi.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and tap the Intelligent Wi-Fi version number (currently 7.0.0) seven times.

A countdown pop-up will appear as you tap, and once completed, a new menu titled Connectivity Labs will show up at the bottom of the Intelligent Wi-Fi page.

What connectivity labs can do

Once activated, Connectivity Labs provides a detailed look at how your phone interacts with Wi-Fi networks, including real-time graphs and usage statistics. However, the real power lies in the advanced tools available further down the menu.

Among its most useful functions are:

  • Home Wi-Fi inspection tool: This lets users walk around their home to map out signal strength, helping identify dead zones and ideal router or device placements for stronger connections.
  • AI-powered mobile data switching: The feature automatically switches the phone to mobile data if the Wi-Fi signal weakens, preventing lags or dropped connections — especially useful for users with unlimited data plans.
  • Wi-Fi developer options: Displays nearby networks and their signal strengths, helping users pick the most stable and fastest connection in crowded places like airports, offices, or apartment complexes.

Why it matters

For Samsung users frustrated by frequent Wi-Fi drops or slow speeds, Connectivity Labs offers an easy, built-in fix — no third-party apps required. The hidden feature gives users more control over their network experience, providing tools that were previously reserved for developers and technicians.

While not every option will apply to casual users, exploring this hidden menu could help many Galaxy owners optimise their home networks and enjoy smoother, more reliable connections.
