Rockstar Games has set its sights high for its next major title, describing GTA 6 as “the largest game launch in history.”

This ambitious claim appeared in a job listing posted on Rockstar’s official website, where the company is recruiting a lead software engineer to ensure the game's infrastructure runs seamlessly when GTA 6 release date arrives next year.

The successful applicant will collaborate with “some of the most talented people in the industry,” Rockstar explained, helping to build the data platform that will support this colossal launch.

“With the continued growth of Grand Theft Auto Online and the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto 6, the successful candidate will lead both the evolution and operation of the data platform supporting what will be the largest game launch in history,” Rockstar wrote, “ensuring it scales to deliver an exceptional experience for millions of players worldwide.”

The listing was initially spotted on social media by TheGTABase, though the paragraph was later removed from the live posting. However, IGN confirmed the details through an archived version of the advertisement.

It remains unclear whether Rockstar is highlighting GTA 6 largest game launch based on projected revenue or the sheer volume of players expected to join on day one. Analyst group Ampere previously projected that the game's introduction could impact the industry to the tune of $2.7 billion.

With just eight months left until the expected GTA 6 release date, anticipation is at an all-time high. This will be the franchise’s first new installment in over ten years, following the original release of GTA 5 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 back in 2013.
