Enhancements like ‘Magic Paste’ make copying and filling bank or IFSC details from WhatsApp effortless, while ‘Favourite Contacts’ enables faster payments to frequently used recipients.

New Delhi: Paytm (One 97 Communications Ltd), India’s full-stack merchant payments leader, has unveiled a completely redesigned version of its flagship app, introducing artificial intelligence (AI)-driven tools aimed at simplifying and personalising the digital payment experience.
The refreshed app features a cleaner interface and over 15 new functions designed to make transactions faster and more intuitive for users across India, including Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) in 12 countries.
Among the major innovations is “Gold Coins,” a new feature that rewards users with digital gold on every payment — adding a savings component to routine transactions.
The AI-led upgrade enables the app to analyse spending patterns, automatically categorise transactions, and deliver personalised insights. Users can now view their total balance across multiple UPI-linked bank accounts through an AI-tagged balance history, eliminating the need to manually tally individual balances.
Monthly expenses are also automatically sorted into categories such as shopping, bills, travel, and utilities to help users better manage their budgets.
For added privacy, a new ‘Hide Payments’ option allows users to conceal selected transactions from their history. Other features include the ability to download detailed UPI statements in Excel or PDF formats, advanced search filters for past payments, and a playful ‘Paytm Playback’ option that transforms recent spending activity into AI-generated rap songs.
Enhancements like ‘Magic Paste’ make copying and filling bank or IFSC details from WhatsApp effortless, while ‘Favourite Contacts’ enables faster payments to frequently used recipients. The built-in calculator supports quick addition of payment amounts for small bills such as groceries or medicines.
A new ‘Receive Money’ widget lets professionals — including doctors, cab drivers, and gym trainers — accept payments directly from their home screen without opening the app. The upgraded Paytm scanner also brings smart visual elements, improved recognition from any angle, auto flashlight activation in low light, and a pinch-to-zoom function for distant QR codes.
Expanding its global reach, the app now allows NRIs from 12 countries to link international mobile numbers with their NRE or NRO bank accounts to make seamless UPI payments in Indian rupees.
“We have introduced the all-new Paytm app with a cleaner design, new AI-led experience, and innovations that make it the best payments app. With this, we are bringing intelligence to payments, where the app understands your spending, organises it automatically, and helps you manage it better.
"We are also giving Gold Coins on every payment, redeemable into real digital gold, so that every Paytm payment becomes a golden one. Built in India for every Indian, this is our next step in making payments truly smarter,” said Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Founder and CEO, Paytm.
