LG introduces a Gaming Portal for webOS TVs, enabling instant Xbox cloud gaming without consoles

Cloud gaming on smart TVs has often felt incomplete in India, but LG is aiming to change that narrative with a major software upgrade. The company has introduced a dedicated LG Gaming Portal for its webOS Smart TVs released between 2021 and 2025, turning them into fully fledged gaming systems that require no console at all.
With the LG TV Xbox app now integrated directly into the interface, LG Smart TV gaming is being positioned as a seamless entertainment experience where players can stream a vast catalogue of titles instantly. The rollout comes just days after Xbox confirmed the arrival of Xbox Cloud Gaming in India, giving LG’s update timely momentum.
Smart TV transformed into a cloud-gaming device
The rollout of the LG Gaming Portal will take place via software updates across cities. Once installed, the feature will appear on the home screen like any other app, offering easy access to console-free gaming.
To get started, users simply need three essentials:
- Active Xbox Game Pass subscription
- Bluetooth controller
- Stable high-speed internet connection
There’s no hardware box to buy, no game downloads and no physical discs — just instant streaming through Xbox Cloud Gaming in India.
Players will be able to dive straight into popular titles such as Forza Horizon 5, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Raji: An Ancient Epic, all streamed directly via the cloud. The experience aims to make gaming without a console effortless, especially for households already invested in game streaming on TV.
Single hub for thousands of games
According to LG, the new portal acts as a unified library for cloud-streamed games from global partners. Users can browse through more than 4,000 cloud-based titles, along with over 600 free-to-play games. The layout is designed to simplify Smart TV gaming in India, allowing players to discover, launch and switch games instantly.
Hardware designed for cloud gaming
LG’s latest Smart TV line-up has been built with cloud performance in mind. Depending on the model, users can expect features such as NVIDIA G-Sync support, AMD FreeSync Premium, refresh rates up to 165Hz, a rapid 0.1ms pixel response time (certified by Intertek) and Clear MR 10000 for better motion handling. These specifications are intended to minimise input lag, reduce screen tearing and keep fast-paced visuals fluid — all crucial for LG webOS gaming and responsive cloud gameplay.
Why it matters for India
For Indian gamers, this marks an important shift as traditional consoles remain costly and gaming PCs are even more expensive. By integrating cloud gaming directly into mainstream televisions, LG is effectively lowering the entry barrier.
As long as users have a compatible TV and stable connectivity, they can access high-end titles instantly through the LG TV Xbox app and Xbox Cloud Gaming in India.
