Nedumbassery: The Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL) has announced that it had struck a strategic agreement with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) to establish the world's first green hydrogen plant in an airport.
CIAL, the first airport fully powered by solar energy in the world, aims to bolster its green energy initiatives by signing a memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BPCL to set up a plant on the airport premises.
The agreement was signed at an event held at the Legislative Complex in the presence of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who is also the chairman of CIAL.
The plant, set to be operational by 2025, will help cover the energy requirements at the airport and as fuel for vehicles.
