This new Siri aims to be more personalized and context-aware, capable of complex tasks by accessing user data and on-screen content with permission.

Apple Inc. is reportedly preparing to unveil a revamped version of its Siri virtual assistant powered by Google’s Gemini artificial intelligence as early as February, marking a pivotal shift in the company’s long-standing AI strategy.
The upcoming announcement, first reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, is expected to showcase a more personalised and context-aware assistant capable of performing complex tasks by accessing a user's personal data and on-screen content with explicit permission.
The February Unveiling
According to internal reports, Apple plans to demonstrate the new "Siri 2.0" during the second half of February 2026. The update is expected to arrive as part of the iOS 26.4 beta, which will likely see a public release in March or April.
Key features rumoured for the February preview include:
- On-Screen Awareness: The ability for Siri to "see" what is on a user’s display and take actions based on that context.
- Deep App Integration: Smarter handling of data across core apps like Mail, Messages, and Calendar to summarise emails or schedule meetings without manual input.
- Google Gemini Core: The system will reportedly rely on a custom Google-developed model, internally known as "Apple Foundation Models version 10," operating at approximately 1.2 trillion parameters.
Strategic Partnership
The move represents the first tangible result of the historic partnership between Apple and Google announced in 2024. While Apple has traditionally prioritised on-device processing to ensure user privacy, reports suggest this advanced version may utilise Google’s cloud infrastructure to handle the massive computational load.
The partnership follows the recent departure of Apple’s AI chief, John Giannandrea, and indicates a strategic pivot as the company seeks to catch up with rivals like OpenAI and Microsoft in the generative AI race.
Roadmap to iOS 27
Analysts suggest the February release is merely the "opening act" for a more radical transformation coming later this year.
- WWDC 2026: In June, Apple is expected to reveal an even more advanced "chatbot-style" Siri for iOS 27.
- Full Conversational AI: This later version, codenamed "Campos," is rumoured to support sustained back-and-forth dialogue, image generation, and complex file analysis, potentially utilising an even more powerful model comparable to Gemini 3.
Apple has not yet confirmed whether the February announcement will take the form of a major keynote event or a series of private media briefings.
