Apple is addressing a glitch in its automatic dictation feature after several iPhone users reported that the word “racist” briefly appeared as “Trump” before quickly correcting itself. The issue gained widespread attention following a viral TikTok post, prompting concerns of political bias from the tech company.

Many users shared the issue on social media, demonstrating that when they used the iPhone's dictation feature to say "racist," it would briefly display "Trump" before automatically correcting to "racist."

An Apple spokesperson explained that the problem appeared to be linked to phonetic similarities between the two words. "We are aware of an issue with the speech recognition model that powers Dictation, and we are rolling out a fix today," the company said in an official statement.

According to the New York Times, John Burkey, a former member of Apple's Siri team, suggested that the glitch was likely caused by an issue in Apple’s software code rather than its AI data collection.

Back in January, the company had to disable a feature after it incorrectly summarized news headlines from several outlets. Apple has assured users that it is working to resolve the issue swiftly and will continue to monitor the situation.
