Cupertino: Apple has just introduced the latest iPad mini, powered by the cutting-edge A17 Pro chip, along with Apple Intelligence and a host of exciting new features. This ultraportable device comes in four stunning finishes, including a fresh blue and purple, and boasts an 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display.

Performance and features

The A17 Pro chip delivers a significant boost in performance, with faster CPU and GPU speeds, making even the most demanding tasks a breeze. The Neural Engine is twice as fast as the previous-generation iPad mini, offering enhanced machine learning capabilities. It also supports the Apple Pencil Pro, ideal for creators and professionals alike.

The 12MP wide back camera has Smart HDR 4, providing natural-looking photos with increased dynamic range. Machine learning also powers the ability to detect and scan documents directly within the Camera app, making it perfect for work and creativity on the go.

Availability and pricing

Pre-orders for the new iPad mini are now open, with availability starting from October 23. Prices start at Rs 49,900 for the Wi-Fi model, and Rs 64,900 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular version.

The new iPad mini comes with 128GB of storage, double that of the previous model, and is also available in 256GB and 512GB configurations. For students, the iPad mini starts at Rs 44,900.

Apple Intelligence and iPadOS 18

The A17 Pro chip enables users to dive into immersive AR applications, edit photos faster than ever, and much more. The iPad mini is deeply integrated with iPadOS 18, allowing Apple Intelligence to harness the power of Apple silicon and generative models to understand and create language, simplify tasks across apps, and enhance everyday user experiences.

Bob Borchers, Apple's vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, stated, "iPad mini appeals to a wide range of users and has been built for Apple Intelligence, delivering intelligent new features that are powerful, personal, and private."

The first set of Apple Intelligence features will be available in US English later this month with iPadOS 18.1, free for devices with A17 Pro or M1 and later.
