New Delhi: Iconic characters from the epic Mahabharat, ‘Lord Krishna’ and warrior ‘Arjuna’, have been brought to life as high-tech digital avatars at the AI Impact Summit in Delhi, thanks to cutting-edge hologram technology and artificial intelligence.

The display is part of the Jio Intelligence pavilion by Reliance Industries, which also offers visitors a glimpse into the making of Mahabharat: Ek Dharmayudh, a fully AI-generated series launched earlier this year on JioCinema and JioHotstar.

A hi-tech retelling of an epic

At the heart of the pavilion is a cove-like structure showcasing AI-generated content from the series, including images that reimagine the classic Indian epic. Flanking the cove are two transparent cylindrical capsules projecting AI avatars of Krishna and Arjuna.

Visitors can interact with the characters through consoles next to each capsule. They can ask questions such as “What is Dharma?”, “Who is the biggest enemy inside us?”, “When life feels unjust, what should we do?”, or “What is the biggest trap for humans?” and receive verbal responses from the AI avatars.

The Krishna avatar is depicted holding his flute, with dusky blue-tinged skin, golden robes, and his signature crown adorned with a peacock feather. Arjuna appears in a silver-hued dhoti and tunic, holding his bow, with his royal locks framing a poised and austere expression.

Engaging all generations

A senior Reliance official told PTI that the pavilion has attracted both younger audiences and older generations over the past few days.

“Our aim is to bring traditional epics closer to newer generations. The entire Mahabharat series has been recreated and reimagined using AI. There are currently 17 episodes available on JioHotstar,” the official said.

A special wall at the pavilion also highlights the creative process behind the AI-generated characters, reflecting the team’s meticulous work on the project.

Beyond storytelling

The Jio pavilion also showcases AI-based tools spanning health, fashion, and other sectors, underlining the growing role of artificial intelligence in everyday life.
