What happens when cutting-edge technology meets music and storytelling? Oscar-winning composer A R Rahman is exploring exactly that with his latest project, Secret Mountain, a metahuman digital avatar band powered by artificial intelligence and Google Cloud’s advanced technology.

What is ‘Secret Mountain’?

Secret Mountain brings together Rahman’s creativity and Google Cloud’s AI tools to build a new kind of musical experience that merges art, performance, and digital innovation. The project introduces a band made up of six hyper-realistic digital avatars who can perform and interact with audiences in real time.

The avatars include diverse virtual artists such as Cara, an Irish singer-songwriter; Zen Tam, a Tamil rapper; and Blessing, an African percussionist and vocalist. The project combines AI-generated avatars with music that cuts across genres, wrapped in immersive storytelling.

How does AI power the project?

Google Cloud’s advanced AI infrastructure forms the backbone of Secret Mountain. It uses Veo 3 for avatar embodiment and video generation, Imagen and Gemini Flash 2.5 Image for creating visuals, and Gemini 2.5 Pro to serve as the avatars’ conversational “brain,” allowing them to engage with fans live.
