Kalpetta: India A team and Delhi Capitals cricketer Minnu Mani has been called up to the national senior squad for the upcoming T20 series against Bangladesh.
Minnu is the daughter of Mani and Vasantha, from Mananthavady, Wayanad. Earlier, she was selected to the Delhi Capitals team in the Women’s Premier League Twenty-20 last season.

“As expected, I faced all the hurdles a girl would face to establish herself in a male-dominated sport. In the end, people are satisfied with the decision I made in my life now that my efforts are reaping rewards," Minnu said.
“I will always be thankful to my sports teacher K M Elsamma, coach Shanavas, and Wayanad Cricket Association secretary Nazir Machan. I grew up playing here in the Krishanagiri stadium under the watchful eyes of the Kerala Cricket Association officials. There are several individuals who have helped me in my journey. The list runs long,” she added.
"This is a proud moment for Kerala Cricket Association,” said secretary Vinod S Kumar, responding to Minnu’s selection into the Indian cricket team.
Minnu is a member of the south zone team in the inter-zone women's cricket competition.
Minnu was introduced to cricket by her sports teacher at Mananthavady GVHSS, KM Elsamma. She was later selected for the cricket academy. Minnu studied Classes 9 and 10 at the Thodupuzha Cricket Academy and Classes 11 and 12 at the Sarvajana Higher Secondary School in Sulthan Bathery. After graduation, she attended the Vazhuthacaud women's college.
Minnu has played for the India A team and India Blue in the Challenger Trophy tournament in the senior and under-23 category. She played in the Emerging Asia Cup in Sri Lanka.
She has received the Kerala Cricket Association’s Junior Cricketer of the Year award, Youth Player of the Year award and Promising Player award.
Excitement is sky high as Minnu is set to play for India.
