
In a remarkable feat, swimmer Sajan Prakash secured Kerala’s first medal at the 38th National Games. He clinched a bronze in the 200-metre freestyle and 100-metre butterfly events.
In the 200-metre freestyle, Sajan finished with a time of 1 minute 53.73 seconds, securing third place. Karnataka’s Srihari Nataraj won the gold, while Aneesh S Gowda claimed the silver in the same event.
In the 100-metre butterfly, which was completed within half an hour of the freestyle race, Sajan, who had been expected to win the gold, was pushed to third place. He finished with a time of 54.52 seconds. Tamil Nadu’s Rohit Benediction claimed the gold, and Maharashtra’s Mihir Ambre took the silver in the event.
Sajan Prakash's achievement marks a significant milestone for Kerala at the National Games, with hopes now pinned on the rest of the athletes.
