Kozhikode: Salva Marjan, a native of Kozhikode, has created history by becoming the first-ever female Formula 4 international racer from Kerala.
The 24-year-old speed enthusiast fantasises about racing circuits and aspires to compete in the Formula One Championship. Salva had flown to the UAE for expert training in Formula Racing, an open-wheeled single-seater motorsport.
She wanted to explore new opportunities and is preparing to participate in the FIA Formula 4 International Championship after earning the qualification through a championship held in Chennai last year.
Salva says that every second on the track can mean a difference for a driver and emphasises that months of training and hard work are necessary for success.
The girl from Kozhikode was passionate towards driving from her childhood. When her friends dreamed of gaining a driving licence, Salva wished for a racing car licence. Her role models are iconic Formula One drivers Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher.
Salva's family support her despite knowing the risks involved in the sport. Salva has three siblings. Sahla, Sinan and Sabith. She is the daughter of Kunjummu and Zubaida, and her helmet has the signatures of her father and mother imprinted on it.
