Joseph Vijay departed Chennai on a week-long official visit to the United Kingdom, aiming to secure foreign investment and examine international sports infrastructure. The Chief Minister-led delegation, which includes Sports Minister Aadhav Arjuna, arrived in London following the recent implementation of the India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement. Beyond scheduled trade talks with major engineering and financial services firms, a standout highlight of the trip includes an official delegation visit to the iconic Silverstone Motor Racing Circuit.

Flagging Off the Michelin Le Mans Cup

Chief Minister Vijay will officially flag off the fifth round of the 2026 Michelin Le Mans Cup at Silverstone. In an official statement published on X, race organisers confirmed that the Chief Minister will wave the ceremonial green flag to launch the two-hour endurance race in front of a 44-car grid. The high-profile sporting gesture carries special significance as actor and veteran racer Ajith Kumar is competing in the LMP3 Pro/Am category for Ajith RedAnt by Virage alongside French driver Romain Vozniak, while former Formula One driver Narain Karthikeyan anchors an all-Indian entry for the team.

Synergy for Tamil Nadu's Motorsport Vision

The Silverstone visit directly backs the state government's ambitious plan to construct a dedicated Motor Sports City in Chennai. As per reports, the delegation intends to study international best practices in circuit design, safety protocols, and sustainable operations to boost sports tourism in Tamil Nadu. The state initiative previously received high praise from Ajith Kumar, who, in a statement, commended the Chief Minister's policy as "one small step by the Tamil Nadu government, one giant leap for motorsports in India".
