Mathamangalam (Kannur): PV Lathika from Thumbadam is reaping success by overcoming her physical limitations despite being paralyzed by polio at the age of 3. Lathika, who has maintained an unbeatable position in powerlifting for differently-abled women in Kerala, now aims to compete nationally. In preparation for the same, the question remains over how she could afford to pay for the training, food, and accommodations since she has no means for a stable house or daily income. 

Lathika had won gold in the women's powerlifting competition at the 19th Paralympics in Kolkata after two years of consistent training. A nonprofit organization that uses Pilathara as its base of operations recognized her aptitude and provided her with the chance to pursue the training. The combined efforts of the locals and other organizations made her advance to the national level possible. 

Lathika is keen on winning gold once again at the national level to earn a ticket to the National team for international competitions. Three months of training, which will cost lakhs, is arranged for her in Alappuzha. The tricycle she rides needs to be brought to Alappuzha, but it is also in abysmal shape.
