Paris: Star India javelin thrower bagged a silver medal for India at the ongoing Paris Olympics on Thursday. Chopra failed to replicate the success of winning gold at the Tokyo Olympics.

Chopra's first-round attempt was ruled out as a foul. Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan set a new Olympic record with a 92.97-meter throw in his second attempt, while Neeraj made a strong comeback in the second round, securing a distance of 89.45 meters.

In the third, fourth and fifth rounds, Chopra's attempts ended up as fouls. In the final round, Chopra failed to break Nadeem's Olympic record and had to settle with a silver medal.

Chopra registered a huge throw of 89.34 metres in Group B of the men's javelin throw qualification round at the Paris Olympics on Tuesday and made his way into the finals.

Earlier today, a brace from skipper Harmanpreet Singh and PR Sreejesh's effortless saves secured a bronze medal for India at the Paris Olympics with a 2-1 win over Spain at the Yves du Manoir Stadium.

Notably, India won consecutive bronze hockey medals for the first time in 52 years since the 1972 Munich Games.
