Oslo: World No. 1 chess player Magnus Carlsen and his wife, Ella Victoria, have welcomed their first child, ushering in a joyful new chapter for the couple. Ella announced on social media that the baby was born on Saturday, 27 September.

Sharing a heartwarming post, she included a photo of Magnus and their newborn sleeping side by side, a tender moment that quickly resonated across the chess community. FIDE also extended its congratulations, adding to the celebratory messages.

The couple had revealed Ella’s pregnancy in May 2025, when Carlsen posted pictures of his wife cradling her baby bump, captioned: “My beautiful pregnant wife.”

The pair were married earlier this year, in January, in a private ceremony at Oslo’s Holmenkollen Chapel. At the time, Ella told followers they would “find out in a few months” when asked about the baby’s gender.
