Glasgow: Indian boxer Jaismine Lamboria captured the women's 57kg gold medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games on Saturday, delivering a unanimous 5-0 decision victory over defending champion Michaela Walsh in the final.

Jaismine's triumph yielded India's second boxing gold of the day, following hard on the heels of Preeti Pawar's earlier success in the women's 54kg division.

The victory also represented India's second consecutive boxing gold at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026.

The opening three-minute stanza saw both competitors adopt a cagey posture, depending largely on counter-attacks while biding their time. The referee was forced to intervene twice within the initial sixty seconds to urge the fighters to initiate exchanges.

Despite the limited sustained action, Lamboria landed the more accurate blows to narrowly claim the first round 3-2 on a split verdict.

The tempo lifted marginally in the second round as Walsh sought to provoke Lamboria into overextending. Nonetheless, the Indian fighter preserved her discipline and continued to select her openings with precision.

Lamboria's accuracy and cleaner scoring impressions swayed the judges, who handed her the round by a unanimous 5-0 margin, establishing a commanding lead entering the final stanza.

The Indian competitor maintained her poise throughout the closing three minutes, piling up further precise punches whilst Walsh failed to mount the necessary urgency to reverse the deficit.

At the final bell, Lamboria was announced as the victor via a unanimous verdict, sealing the gold medal for India.

The two opponents shared an embrace in the middle of the canvas following the decision in a commendable display of sportsmanship.

Earlier in the day, Preeti claimed the gold medal in the women's 54kg event at the Commonwealth Games 2026 by overcoming Canada's Scarlett Delgado by a unanimous decision in Saturday's final.
