Justice Saugata Bhattacharyya directed police to locate Porel and seize his electronic devices to secure potential evidence and prevent the misuse of private data.

Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court has directed the Bengal Police to immediately arrest Delhi Capitals and Bengal wicketkeeper-batter Abishek Porel in connection with an alleged rape and criminal intimidation case. Justice Saugata Bhattacharyya issued the order on July 14, instructing law enforcement to trace the cricketer and seize his electronic devices.
Allegations and Legal Proceedings
The case stems from an FIR registered last month at the Mogra police station in Hooghly by a third-year medical student. The complainant alleged that Porel engaged in a sexual relationship with her under a false promise of marriage and subjected her to assault and criminal intimidation.
The High Court's directive to seize electronic devices is aimed at ensuring that any private photographs or digital evidence belonging to the complainant are securely preserved and prevented from being disseminated. Police reports noted that a pen drive had previously been seized.
Defence Response
Porel has previously denied all allegations levelled against him, dismissing them as completely false. The investigation remains ongoing as police continue their efforts to apprehend the accused.
